Gates of Olympus is Pragmatic Play’s Zeus-themed slot, and it does away with fixed paylines entirely. Here is how it actually plays, where the money comes from, and who is likely to get on with it.
Gameplay
The game runs on a pay-anywhere grid rather than left-to-right paylines. Instead of lining symbols up along set rows, you win when enough matching symbols land anywhere on the grid, so position does not matter — only the count does.
Wins use a tumbling mechanic. When a winning cluster is paid, those symbols are removed and new ones drop in to fill the gaps, giving you the chance at consecutive wins from a single spin without paying again. A tumble sequence keeps going until no new win lands.
The headline feature is the multiplier orbs. These can drop in during any spin and carry a value; when a winning tumble sequence resolves, the collected orb values are applied to that win. In Gates of Olympus the orbs go up to 500x, which is where the biggest payouts on this game are built.
Volatility and RTP
Gates of Olympus is a high-volatility slot. In practice that means long stretches of small or dead spins punctuated by occasional larger hits — the multiplier orbs are what make the difference between a modest session and a big one, and they do not turn up often. Expect swings, and size your stake accordingly.
The published RTP is 96.5%. Treat that as a long-run statistical average across millions of spins, not a promise about your session — your actual results in any given sitting can sit well above or well below it. T&Cs apply, and you should verify the RTP on the operator’s site, since some operators run games at different configured RTP versions.
Who it suits
This one is for players who are comfortable with variance and are chasing the multiplier orbs rather than steady, frequent returns. If a run of empty spins would tempt you to increase your stake to “catch up”, the high volatility will not be kind — that instinct is exactly what drains a bankroll. If you prefer smoother, lower-variance play, a different slot will suit you better.
If you do play it, set a budget before you start, keep your per-spin stake small relative to that budget so it can absorb the quiet stretches, and stop when you hit your limit.
